Our partners

Our partners recognise the value of our service and the impacts we have in our community.

At its core SES is a partnership between state government, local governments, and volunteers from the communities they serve. The service is funded by both state and local governments with further support from community and partners. Additional funds are provided through various grant and subsidy programs including the SES Support Grant for local governments.

Partnerships involve mutually beneficial relationships and we encourage shared value opportunities. Each partnership is individual, and we focus on ensuring our volunteers are supported and engaged.

Our Partnerships directly help our volunteers across the State to perform their role and assist the most vulnerable members of the Queensland community, often in challenging times and events.

We are proud to have Suncorp as our Principal Community Partner. Suncorp supports our community engagement and education campaigns, funds vital equipment for our volunteers and promotes volunteerism across the state.

‘Together, we’ll help Queenslanders connect with their neighbours and other vital support services, bringing communities together to enable better preparation, response and recovery’ (Suncorp).

Energex and Ergon Energy (part of Energy Queensland) and Powerlink Queensland
SES Supporting Partners

Energy companies are Energising Queensland SES thanks to an equipment boost.

The generous support from Energy Queensland (through Energex and Ergon Energy) and Powerlink Queensland delivers $250,000 worth of equipment available to frontline Queensland SES volunteers.

Under the Energising Queensland SES Equipment Program, SES Groups throughout Queensland receive resuscitation equipment, pole saws, generators, chainsaws, stretchers, emergency lighting equipment, vehicle accessories and other tools and technology items to help them provide additional support for the community. The 2023-24 program launched in Redland Bay on 29 August 2023 and 149 groups around the state were awarded equipment chosen by them to meet the needs of the area.”

Powerlink Queensland Chief Executive, Paul Simhauser, said supporting thousands of volunteers across Queensland was important for Powerlink Queensland. "Powerlink is proud to double our support of this partnership program this year,” Mr Simhauser said. “Seeing how community volunteers put this equipment to good use in responding to emergencies makes this partnership extremely rewarding for all involved.

Energy Queensland (Energex and Ergon Energy) CEO, Peter Scott said, “SES volunteers are also a comfort to our Ergon and Energex crews. Because when our crews begin restoring power to disaster-affected regions, they know the SES volunteers are out there clearing roads cut by debris and keeping the community safely away from fallen powerlines. Their assistance helps our crews to restore the community’s power much faster.”
